More than 60,000 migrants crossed illegally into Ceuta, Spain in a single day this week, after a court ruling stripped away Spain’s ability to promptly return those intercepted at sea. The surge followed a mass amnesty that legalized more than 600,000 illegal aliens — and at least 34 people have died attempting the crossing. When a country dismantles deterrence and rewards illegal entry, the results are swift, chaotic, and deadly.

It can happen here. Our own border gains rest on executive policies that a future administration could erase with the stroke of a pen, or that a single court decision could unravel — exactly what just happened in Spain.

That is why I am asking you to support and pass H.R. 9773, the Permanent Trump Secure Border Act. The bill would codify the asylum, detention, and parole reforms that ended catch-and-release and drove illegal crossings to record lows, so those gains no longer depend on the next election or the next lawsuit.

Please help pass this bill without delay. Americans deserve an immigration system that works for the American people — and stays that way.
