Make the jobs magnet shutoff permanent
- Cosponsor H.R. 251
Government household survey data now confirm what common sense predicted: as immigration enforcement has expanded, millions more American workers have gone to work. Native-born employment grew by roughly two million in 2025 and nearly two million more in the first half of this year — far outpacing the gains of the previous two years.
Those gains belong to American workers, but they rest entirely on executive enforcement that a future administration could reverse with the stroke of a pen. Congress has the power to make them permanent. H.R. 251, the Legal Workforce Act, would require every employer to confirm work authorization through E-Verify, phasing in over three years. It would shut off the jobs magnet that draws illegal immigration in the first place — and it would hold accountable the employers who profit from illegal hiring, not the workers caught up in a broken system.
Please cosponsor H.R. 251 and help build an immigration system that works for the American people.
