Lock in border security
Pass the Secure the Border Act (H.R. 2) as soon as possible.
The Supreme Court’s June 30 decision in Trump v. Barbara locked in automatic citizenship for the children of parents here illegally or temporarily, which means the surest way to keep new incentives from piling up is to stop the illegal entries and visa overstays in the first place. A federal court recently had to undo one of the backdoors the last administration used to shelve removal cases and grant a quiet amnesty to nearly one million uninvited migrants. If you don’t act, this can happen again.
The House promised a floor vote on the Secure the Border Act (H.R. 2) and let that deadline pass. I am asking you to bring it up and pass it as soon as possible. It would strengthen asylum standards, mandate E-Verify for all employers, make visa overstays a crime, and end the catch-and-release and parole abuses that made the last border crisis possible — locking in enforcement that no future administration can quietly reverse. Please don’t let this opportunity slip again, and give us an immigration system that finally works for the American people.
