Please be ready to pass H.R. 2 the moment it clears the House.

Our border laws work when we actually enforce them — the Supreme Court made that clear in its recent Al Otro Lado decision, ruling that migrants who stop on the far side of our border are not automatically entitled to claim asylum here. The Court did it by reading the plain text of the statute. Congress should write the rest of our border protections just as plainly into law.

That is why I am asking you to be ready to act. H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, is headed for a vote in the House, and when it clears that chamber it should not stall in the Senate. H.R. 2 would lock these gains in for good — stronger asylum standards, mandatory E-Verify, real consequences for visa overstays, and an end to parole abuse.

The American people were promised a secure border, and they deserve one that lasts. Please be ready to pass H.R. 2 and help deliver an immigration system that works for them.
