A recent Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas study found the illegal immigration surge accounted for roughly 30% of home-price growth and 20% of rent growth in the average American metro area, with no matching rise in homebuilding to relieve it.

The Senate hasn’t passed a border package to prevent another surge.

Be ready. Whenever the House holds the vote on H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, that leadership promised before July 4, the Senate cannot let the bill stall the way H.R. 2 died last Congress — take it up and pass it the moment it clears. The stakes are measured in the cost of living.

H.R. 2 would end catch-and-release, close the parole and asylum loopholes, and mandate E-Verify so that a job is no longer the reward for entering the country illegally. Passing it would also write the border gains made since January 20, 2025 into permanent law, beyond the reach of any future administration. The House delay has already cost time; the Senate should be ready to make up for it.
