Before the July 4 recess, House leadership promised a floor vote on H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act — and it never came. Please pass it the moment the House returns.

The cost of waiting is real: a recent Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas study found that the illegal immigration surge accounted for roughly 30% of home-price growth and 20% of rent growth in the average American metro area, adding demand for housing far faster than homes could be built.

H.R. 2 would end catch-and-release, close the parole and asylum loopholes that cartels and smugglers exploit, and mandate E-Verify so that illegal immigration is no longer rewarded with a job — shutting off the border and the jobs magnet that drive these surges in the first place. Just as important, it would write the border gains made since January 20, 2025 into law, so they cannot be erased by the next administration with the stroke of a pen. The House has already broken one deadline promise. Please don’t let another opportunity pass.
