Stop the catch-and-release shell game — reestablish the Migration Protection Protocols!
I hope you and your colleagues don’t buy the misleading border apprehension statistics the administration peddling. While the administration likes to tout statistics showing apprehensions are down, these do not tell the whole story: illegal aliens who turn themselves in and request asylum at ports of entry are not counted as “apprehensions.” To make matters worse, these illegal aliens are then given work permits and allowed to move throughout the United States until their hearing dates (which will be scheduled several years later).

Social cohesion is being lost in our expanding cities.
Our beautiful nation has become stricken with immigration-driven population growth even though most Americans want slower population growth. Urban sprawl, and the subsequent loss of community cohesion, will only worsen as our population continues to soar by millions every year. The Census Bureau predicts that the U.S. population will soar to 404 million by the Year 2060, with more than 90% due to immigration.

No end to the border crisis. Include H.R. 2 in the Continuing Resolution.
It infuriates me that border crossings rose in July, proving that the end of the border crisis is nowhere in sight. I hope that the Senate will use the fiscal year appropriations process to include provisions in the House-passed H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, in the Continuing Resolution.

Immigration policies add further strain to groundwater supplies
America’s underground water supplies are being severely depleted (The New York Times, 8/28/23). The “mining” of groundwater causes critical problems and is happening across America, especially in arid areas with runaway urban sprawl.

Help our overburdened communities by ending catch-and-release policies
I urge you to work to end current catch-and-release policies.

Federal policy is exacerbating groundwater shortages
The New York Times recently (8/28/23) reported that America’s underground water supplies are being severely depleted. The “mining” of groundwater causes critical problems and is happening across America, especially in arid areas with runaway urban sprawl.

Attach H.R. 2 to the Continuing Resolution
The must-pass Continuing Resolution is a great opportunity to pass H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act. This legislation, if passed, would help to end the crisis at the U.S. / Mexico border. This legislation would:
-
The environment suffers as population rises
Business interests want perpetual growth, but Americans need to face the reality that our country’s biodiversity/wildlife habitat and quality-of-life are irreparably damaged as we add millions to our population every year. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, our population is projected to soar to 404 million by the year 2060, with more than 90% due to immigration.
-
Serenity is difficult to find
America’s remaining open spaces, especially our majestic national parks, are being “used to death.” As our population grows, parks and beaches cannot keep up with the demand. Unless America can achieve a stable sustainable population, the trampling of our remaining open spaces will worsen. This is why Congress must revisit our immigration policies. The Census Bureau projects the U.S. that 75 million people will be added to America’s population by the Year 2060, with roughly 90 percent of that growth due to immigration.

Help end the visa lottery
Our nation currently allows 55,000 immigrants to come to the United States through this program. These individuals need not possess special skills or extraordinary talents, they need only sign up for the lottery and have their name drawn. Once they come to the United States they are free to compete against unemployed Americans for U.S. jobs.

End unprecedented parole use and take up H.R. 2
I am dismayed that Resident Biden is misusing immigration parole to continue to release large numbers into the country while making it less visible on paper.
-
End the border crisis
The border crisis has gone on for long enough. For more than 24 months, Border Patrol agents have made at least 125,000 apprehensions at the Southern border — nearly 4 times the average number of apprehensions during Pres. Obama’s 8 years in office.
-
Border crossings remain at record-high levels
I am disappointed that recent media reports and statements from Biden administration officials indicate that the historic border crisis is beginning to wind down.
-
Oppose foreign worker increases in DHS spending bill
I was disturbed to learn that the House of Representatives is planning to proceed with the FY 2024 DHS Appropriations Bill, H.R. 4367! This legislation, if passed and signed into law, would harm hundreds of thousands of less-educated and lower-skilled American workers and their families.
-
Support H.R. 2 to end the border crisis
Reps. Tom McClintock and Mario Diaz-Balart have introduced H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act. This legislation, if passed, would help to end the crisis at the U.S. — Mexico border. This legislation would:
-
End human trafficking and smuggling and cosponsor E-Verify bill S. 156
Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar stated: “We must do all we can to prevent human smuggling and trafficking across both our country’s borders.”
-
Cosponsor E-Verify bill S. 156
Please cosponsor S. 156, the Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act, as Title 42 ends and our border crisis worsens.
-
Why are House Republicans not acting to end the border crisis?
I cannot understand why some House Republicans are preventing House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jordan from moving forward with a hearing to pass a package of border security bills. According to news reports, the hearings have now been delayed until after the Easter break. Why the delay?
-
There is no labor shortage. Co-sponsor S. 156
I urge you to bring those U.S. workers who are struggling on the sidelines into our workforce.
-
Co-sponsor H.R. 1100 to end the visa lottery!
Fifty-two percent of all lottery visas have been awarded to Europeans, who represent 56 percent of all immigrants since 1820, dispelling the notion that true diversity was the goal of the lottery. The United States does not need to admit a single additional immigrant to ensure increasing ethnic and racial diversity in the U.S. — it is a demographic certainty. Additionally, the legal immigration flow of around one million per year and another estimated million coming illegally, 55,000 lottery visas have very little impact on diversity, no matter who the beneficiaries are.
