Stop Costa Rica from helping Cubans enter U.S.
We’re disappointed that Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Mexico have struck a deal to send thousands of Cubans who are stranded in Costa Rica to Mexico, via El Salvador. This deal will only encourage more Cubans to try to enter the U.S. illegally and needs to be opposed. he just-passed omnibus spending bill allows aid dollars for El Salvador to be reduced if the country is not certified by the Secretary of State as doing enough to combat illegal immigration. We believe this deal should prevent their certification and we hope you will convey this message to the State Department.

Reduce immigration and put American workers first
A new NumbersUSA television ad features civil rights icon Barbara Jordan who chaired the last bi-partisan commission on immigration. The Jordan Commission recommended cutting legal immigration to 550,000 annually. I support the recommendations of the Jordan Commission and urge you to do so as well.

Help end chain migration
Rep. Jody Hice’s Nuclear Family Priority Act, H.R. 604, is a fantastic bill that will help solve America’s immigration problems. Please cosponsor it!

An insecure sense of security
It’s difficult to know what to make of the report that new Apple Valley mayor Barb Stanton views public safety as one of her top priorities in the wake of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino (“Barb Stanton makes Apple Valley history,” Daily Press, December 10, 2015). Some of Stanton’s previous top priorities have been voting against the Town purchase of the Apple Valley Country Club (for which she voted in favor), keeping government out of business (except where the animal shelter and Ranchos Water Company are involved), transparency in government (except where the Ranchos takeover is concerned), etc.

Thanks for opposing the sale of U.S. visas
I am glad you wrote an op-ed to highlight the dangers of the EB-5 visa program. I hope you will do all you can to make sure the program is not renewed.

Syrian refugee resettlement raises major security concerns
I hope you will take a look at the Senate’s recent hearing into the Syrian refugee situation. Multiple Obama administration officials, including FBI Director James Comey, have admitted that there is no way to determine which applicants pose a security threat. Efforts to allocate $1 billion to resettle Syrians in the United States, while well-meaning, are dangerous and should not be supported. The United States’ efforts should focus on helping the millions of Syrians who have fled to Turkey and Jordan.

Stop Syrian refugee settlement in the U.S.
A new study from the Center for Immigration Studies shows that the U.S. government can help twelve Syrian refugees who remain in the Middle East for every one refugee it relocates to the U.S. I urge you to support U.S. guidelines that advice against relocating refugees long distances and oppose any efforts to fund Syrian refugee resettlement.

Please stop forcing U.S. population growth
The population of the United States is on track to hit 444 million by 2050. Please reflect on your policies that are causing this detrimental and unsustainable growth.

Please cosponsor bill revising Cuban immigration
The immigration laws passed by Congress after the Cuban revolution are now being abused by many Cubans to abuse America’s welfare system. Rep. Paul Gosar’s Ending Special National Origin-Based Immigration Programs for Cubans Act of 2015 would end the “wet foot/dry foot” policy and repeal the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966. Please cosponsor this legislation.

Oppose H-2B visa bill
I hope you will oppose H.R. 3918, legislation to increase H-2B worker numbers. This legislation excludes returning H-2B workers from the annual cap and needs to be opposed.

Support the bill ending sanctuary cities
Please cosponsor H.R. 3314, the Protecting American Lives Act. Far too many Americans are dying at the hands of illegal aliens who have been arrested, but given sanctuary by sanctuary cities. I hope you will help save American lives by supporting this bill.

Trump details immigration plan to help American workers
Donald Trump’s plan to reform America’s immigration system to benefit America’s workers is the best of all those running for the White House. I hope you will look at his plan and start working on instituting his proposals in the near future.

Put Americans first this Labor Day by reducing immigration and ending illegal-alien hiring
Labor Day provides the nation the opportunity to reflect on the hard work performed by all Americans. With this in mind how can the Congress continue to allow employers to employ 8 million illegal alien workers and push for more foreign workers when 17 million Americans are without a full-time job?

Op-ed opposing legal immigration
Mark Krikorian has written an op-ed for the National Review detailing the dangers mass legal immigration is causing for American conservatism. I have attached the article and I hope you will find time to read it.
-
Re-authorize E-Verify permanently
E-Verify expires at the end of September and it’s time for Congress to permanently authorize the program and make its use mandatory for all employers. H.R. 1147, the Legal Workforce Act, would permanently authorize the program and mandate its use. I hope you will push for its passage.

End birthright citizenship!
We see the problem of anchor babies as a serious flaw in our immigration law. I hope you will take action to end it by cosponsoring S.45 and H.R.140 that would end Birthright Citizenship.

Senate must act to eliminate sanctuary localities
It is disappointing that the Senate has not yet acted to prevent sanctuary cities from receiving federal law enforcement funding. Now that the House has passed such legislation, I hope the Senate will follow suit by passing S. 1640, the Davis-Oliver Act. Please do all you can to make this happen.
-
Further action needed on Sanctuary bill
While I am glad you voted to restrict certain funding to sanctuary localities, Congress must do more to block funding and encourage localities to comply with federal immigration law. The Davis-Oliver Act, H.R. 1148, would block federal law enforcement and SCAAP funding to sanctuary localities and needs to be passed. Please do all you can to make this happen.

An Op-Ed from The Hill you may have missed
I hope you will take the time to read the attached op-ed from The Hill. Sanctuary cities need to be eliminated and this article makes that case well.

American cities should not provide ‘sanctuary’ for foreign criminals
The recent shooting death by an illegal alien who had been previously deported from the U.S. 5 times, highlights the federal government’s refusal to enforce our country’s existing immigration laws. Please end the existence of so-called “sanctuary cities” by supporting S.1842 that would require cities and states to cooperate with federal immigration agents.
