The promise of work permits encourages illegal immigration

Incentives matter. Migrants may be poor but they are just as capable as you or I of doing a cost-benefit analysis. Upon taking office, Resident Biden quickly signaled that illegal immigration would not just be tolerated, but celebrated. Congress piled on by promising rewards for illegal immigration, such as work permits.

Schumer and Vice President Harris to ignore the Senate parliamentarian and include an illegal alien amnesty in the budget reconciliation bill. In case you forgot, the parliamentarian did not mince her words; she was unequivocal that passing an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens goes far beyond its simple budgetary impact and needs to be carefully considered by Congress in standalone legislation.

Federal policy is exacerbating Southwest water shortages.

In August, federal officials announced first-time cuts in water deliveries from the Colorado River to Arizona and Nevada. All while the population drawing upon the River is booming, as reported by The Salt Lake Tribune (10/7/21). Arizona, Colorado, and California gained 3.8 million people between 2010 and 2020. Nevada and Utah grew by almost a million. Yet the Census Bureau predicts America’s population will grow by another 75 million in the next 40 years, with roughly 90% of that attributable to unchecked immigration.

No more incentives for illegal immigration

As the worst border crisis in over 20 years continues, the Biden administration has announced new curbs on enforcement in the interior and the workplace, and Democrats in Congress are working on their third attempt to include rewards for illegal immigration in the budget reconciliation bill.
