Attach H.R. 2 to the Continuing Resolution

The must-pass Continuing Resolution is a great opportunity to pass H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act. This legislation, if passed, would help to end the crisis at the U.S. / Mexico border. This legislation would:

End the border crisis

The border crisis has gone on for long enough. For more than 24 months, Border Patrol agents have made at least 125,000 apprehensions at the Southern border — nearly 4 times the average number of apprehensions during Pres. Obama’s 8 years in office.

Help end the visa lottery

Our nation currently allows 55,000 immigrants to come to the United States through this program. These individuals need not possess special skills or extraordinary talents, they need only sign up for the lottery and have their name drawn. Once they come to the United States they are free to compete against unemployed Americans for U.S. jobs.

End unprecedented parole use and take up H.R. 2

I am dismayed that President Biden is misusing immigration parole to continue to release large numbers into the country while making it less visible on paper.

The environment suffers as population rises

Business interests want perpetual growth, but Americans need to face the reality that our country’s biodiversity/wildlife habitat and quality-of-life are irreparably damaged as we add millions to our population every year. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, our population is projected to soar to 404 million by the year 2060, with more than 90% due to immigration.

Border crossings remain at record-high levels

I am disappointed that recent media reports and statements from Biden administration officials indicate that the historic border crisis is beginning to wind down.
