Governor Jerry Brown:
I am an active California voter who wants you to veto AB2189 and AB1081. You should not give driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants with deferred-action status or tie the hands of police by limiting ICE detainers to those who committed serious or violent felonies.

Mr. Bennett,
The title of your article, “Immigration Conundrum,” is misleading. There is no conundrum, and the law is clear. There is no law in the United States that we have birthright citizenship. Therefore, any children born here of illegal aliens is not a citizen, and thus must be expelled from the country along with the illegal alien parents.

The federal government is giving illegal aliens a temporary stay from deportation, but states are responsible for deciding whether they will get driver’s licenses or other taxpayer-funded benefits. I hope you will follow the lead of Governors in Mississippi and Arizona and issue an executive order that prevents them from accessing any public benefit.
